Recently I had this idea of spinning yarns specifically for guys, and this is the first result.

This would be so cute on a little boy, or perhaps even cuter on a grown man. :P

Hey, but girls like it too! I had fun spinning all the little cars into this yarn, although it did take a lot of patience. The yarn is soft Merino, commercially dyed and oh so bright... I love it!

Next to follow are a few more yarns in this style, here are the 'secret ingredients' of the next one, after cars the logical next step are tools, right?

These are the beautiful sequins, ribbons, beads and ric rac I collected during my UK visit, as I took the chance of going to all my favourite craft stores....

Well, not all of them, as I already spun one skein of a lovely blue yarn filled with sequins and such - it is taking a bath as we speak.

Well, well, well.....
I went for some shopping and a ravelry knitting meet-up to Heidelberg and we went to this lovely shop which is sadly closing down. I managed to get some really great beads and sequins which I am sure to find a good use in a yarn for.
In the front are some absolutely stunning real mother of pearl thick but tiny beads.

Yesterday I also got lots of tweed and other wool fabrics, we'll see if they end up being bags or yarns. :P

At the moment I am spinning so much, and filling my shop and gallery quite a bit! Here is a new art yarn matching for spring: Daffodils. Handspun from soft hand dyed Merino and fabric daffodils with leaves.

Well, well.... Not only have I got mountains of Suri alpaca to be processed, I also ordered a big lot of undyed fibres. Most of it has been dyed, and scarily most of it is already spun!
However fear not, of course I had to order another big lot of fibre, which I have barely been able to touch so far.

What I am trying to say is that in the near future there will be a biiig update in my little shop with pretty yarns and some wrist warmers. :D

Starting on the big alpaca wash

As I am currently in Switzerland and was lucky enough to receive about 18kg of Suri Alpaca from a local farm for Christmas, I started washing the lovely fluff.
There is lots of dark brown, almost black alpaca, quite a bit of lighter fawn and the rest is white so it can be dyed.

In the white bucket is only water, yes, rather dirty water, but just water nonetheless... On the right is the alpaca after the first wash in some clean water.
It's now all lying out to dry and then I can take some of it back to Germany with me for spinning some fluffy bulky yarns!

The bad news is that I will have to move again, although I have just moved 3 months ago! My landlady burned down her own house with a gas explosion so she will need the little flat she rented out to me as soon as possible... nevermind.... *sigh* ...will have to pack everything up again after just about having settled in my flat....

Well, still no Internet at home, but I have started accepting my fate and am now uploading some stuff again. Here is some lovely handspun tussah silk which I have also added to my little shop. More to come very soon!
